my laptop is at 768p and honestly? im at peace with this

computer take

are you editing a literal movie? sure, go for it, have a 4k monitor, fuck it but like if you are Browsing the Internet and Playing Videogames please stop it

computer take

@ida more than 1080 is just marketing bullshit. like the human fucking eyes cannot tell the difference between 1080 and 4k most the time, let alone the absolute meme 8k is

computer take

@CornishRepublicanArmy not on a tiny ass fuckin monitor anyway yeah

computer take

@ida ok sure a massive flat screen you're gonna see it. but most people use mobile phones and laptops these days

computer take

@ida but it'll make me feel good for gaining imperceivable improvements. Like this really expensive digital to analog converter my headphones are plugged into.

computer take

@rune its not even just that! a cool dac/audio interface doesnt actively *hurt* battery life or performance in the same way a high res monitor does

computer take

@ida the primary reason I still use 1080p for gaming is that I don't wanna buy a new graphics card. So yes I totally get it.

computer take

@ida But have you considered 1080three?

But yeah, I may not have perfect vision, I don't know, but I am very happy with 24inch 1080p 60hz monitors.

I don't want to try any higher hz displays because I worry I will suddenly find 60hz not good enough and be unable to go back... and that'd be inconvenient.

Where I really want those kinda wacky big spec displays is in VR headsets.
